Food4thought: "Broken Son(g or net?)"

Broken Son(g or net?)
It is toxically suffocating
To be left in silence, utterly alone;
Those brutal scenes come rushing back to me,
A cruel reminder of my greatest loss;
To be told of how you fell once before,
To open that half-healed wound again,
Only to be shoved back into that argument:
The voices clashing in sharp dissonance
Like clanging cymbals in the middle of
A glass lullaby.
Though begging a resolve, notes are withheld;
It smothers so I am gasping for air,
Air that I’ll never actually have
Because the music stop(s or ped?)

Food4thought: "When You Look at Me"

When You Look at Me

When you look at me…
Why do your eyes measure my breast size?
Why is your mind far from mine?
Am I only a tool that you’ll use and leave?
When you look at me…
Why do your lips call me beautiful
When you really mean, “hot.”
Do you think I’m too inferior to see that?

Food4thought: "Radiant Flower of the Night"

Radiant Flower of the Night
As darkness falls, so does my heart
As night takes over, tears stain the page
So in this moment, I must remember how great Love art
For in this moment, my own pain is too great to gauge
So I will go to Love’s oldest friend
For only she can my heart mend
To this flower my mind I lend
If by her, my pain might end
O radiant flower of the night
How beautiful is your soothing light
For by it, I can rise once more
That for Love I will win this internal war
By your leading light I walk this path
That the enemy shall taste my full wrath
But should a single step ever stray
Guide me back, O beacon of light, I pray
Nocturnal sunflower, I implore you to give your true name
That should I need you again, your truths I might first claim
And if my crest again should fall
Might I find rest when to you I call
And so as night comes evermore
By this flower I gain my might
So since Love I truly adore
For hope, I look to the radiant flower of the night

Food4thought: Wearing Red

Wearing Red

It’s red like bright cherries, sweet and full
It’s red like cotton helping your vein coagulate
It’s red like a young girl, twirling her autumn dress
It’s red like plumerias, delicate yet fragrant

Food4Thought: Perspective

Perspective

A closed blade hides behind
Information and keys,

Like power hiding behind
Wise men and guards,

Or knights awaiting orders
From the intellects and affluentials.

Perhaps the items reflect an assassin
Targeting the informed and the informer.

But what if we’re looking at it wrong?
What if the order is different

And the keys are behind
The knife and the knowledge,

Implying that if we want to open doors
We must first have power and intelligence,

Or if treasure is to be unlocked
Geniuses and brutes must together lead.

Yet we can
Rotate this again

So that knowledge is guarded
By the keys and the knife,

Implying that secrets are only found
At the cost of bloodshed,

Or the truth resides
In both the lowly guards and the noble knights.

See how a slight shift
Alters one’s perspective?

It’s like someone told me long ago,
“Just because it makes sense,
Doesn’t mean it’s right.”

Food4thought: Appeasement's Twin

Appeasement’s Twin

Do you even know who I am?
Or has my twin stolen my name again?
It’s so frustrating to be invisible
To never be truly known
Because someone told you he was me
And for pity’s sake we hardly look alike

My so-called friends won’t clear my name
Instead they tell me, “Stay quiet.”
Or, “Be more like your brother!”
Are girls not allowed to speak?

Look how he walks to the podium
Smiling like some two-faced politician
Giving his sermon against war
In many ways, I agree
I suppose that’s why we’re twins

But what about the oppressed?
How are their lives tranquil?
Striving for food day after day
Drenched in poverty producing pain

Even my cousin, Hope, is withheld from them
Her beaming face and healing words
Removed from their lives of despair
All to what avail?
To keep you in your pseudocomforts?

Don’t you see this truth?
That unless you stand up for them
Unless they are made free
Free of their suffering and shame
You will never have me:
Peace.

Food4thought: Secret Beauty

Secret Beauty

Take me to the beautiful

But what defines beauty?

Is it a physical, balanced appearance?

Measured by critics and fans

Or is it something unseen

Something seldom known

Stop Kony!

One hundred twenty-three years ago, on April 20, a man who would change the world was born: Adolf Hitler. He mobilized an army that committed atrocities that were rarely ever paralleled in history and was responsible for the deaths of millions of people including over 6 million Jews. As a result of this, an army rose up to suppress this international threat. Those that stopped Hitler were called "the greatest generation."
Now another man shakes the nations: Joseph Kony. So far, he has forced an army of children to fight for him against their own families. His army has captured young boys to add to their numbers and raped the girls they once cared for. The army itself is a victim of its own "cause."
Will this generation rise up to stop Kony? Will they work to send troops to help the African nations to stop this man whose actions demand justice? Or have we lost ourselves in our conquest for comfort? Does it not matter that these children are being forced to kill their own parents? Does it not matter that these young girls are being raped by young men that never wanted to fight?

I, Propitiator: "Chapter 20"

Chapter 20

Love came to my rescue, wrapped me in his grace and carried me to a place of beauty profound.
Camryn sat Cassandra down. Then with a soft and serious tone, she spoke, “Listen to me, you can’t protect her from everything that will happen to her, but you can give her to someone who will be able to.”
Cassandra looked at Mom unsure of what to say so she continued, “The love of the Prime I is strong enough to defend her, yet if you can’t accept this, your own worry could hinder his efforts. How can he rescue her if you do not allow it? Let him save her, stop trying to resist what you know to be true and ask him to come to her rescue. He will listen to the honest plead of a mother on behalf of her child.”
Cassandra sat there, biting her lip, uncertain of what to do or say. She loved her daughter so much, but she didn’t know how she could believe this was really happening, she weakly said, “If he can save her, let him.”

I, Propitiator: "Chapter 19"

Chapter 19

When love is perfected, fear cannot co-exist with it. Remember that love generates light and fear resides in the darkness which has lost its power.
Oliver dived out of the way of the oncoming beast. Of all things to deal with in a ship, why did it have to be Zurui and Terrans at the same time? Zurui turned his horse around and charged at David. David shot at the horse, but had to also dodge as Zurui simply deflected the shots away with his whip-like staff. Oliver then said, “Let the armor of the Ies always be sufficient for me.”
A helmet of light formed around Oliver, next a chained set of panels made also of light covered his chest. From there armor formed around his waist and legs, completed off by cleats that were also made of light, allowing him to dig into the ground despite the metal floor. From there, the tipir illumined all the room all the more as the shield of energy surround Oliver. Zurui charged at Oliver and swinging his whip at Oliver, but Oliver did not move, just  blocking the strike, then as the horse was about to trample him, Oliver sliced out its legs and rolled under it, cutting its belly before shooting again at Zurui. David began to lay down crossfire, So Zurui attempted to shoot a replica of himself at David, but the shield around Oliver interfered, distorting the energy clone into a money. The monkey flew across the room at David, screaming with an insane laughter. It was like someone took the cackle Kakios had made earlier, upped the octave and crossed that sound with a screeching pterodactyl. David ran as he covered his ears to stop the sound from blowing out his ears. Oliver ran toward Zurui, and Zurui decided to run out into the hallway, so as Oliver followed, David was stuck battling the monkey that had just flew at him.
Now you may not think a energy monkey is really all that dangerous until you realize that he tipir that David was using had no effect on the monkey since it was altered by the same sort of energy that fueled David’s staff. So putting his tipir away, David prepared to fight the monkey using a mix of martial arts. David raised his arms, like a crane, but then as the monkey near, David turned his wing-like arms into razors as he struck down at the creature. This however was a mistake, for the monkey used his prehensile tail to grab onto the incoming attack, raise himself closer to David and attempted to maul his face. David used a roundhouse kick to knock the creature off his head. Then as the monkey ran back at him, he used a sweeping kick to try to inflict more damage. However the monkey leaped up and grabbed onto David’s hair trying to inflict more damage by straining his neck. David went with the pull though and rolled back ward, rolling over the monkey and effectually killing the annoying thing.
Meanwhile, Zurui and Oliver kept locking staves in an array of alternating strikes. A few times Oliver had tried to shoot at Zurui while they’re staves were locked, but Zurui managed to always dodge them or use the staff that wasn’t locked to block the shots. This continued to frustrate Oliver as the battle dragged on. David ran out into the hallway and shot a series of shots directly at Zurui. This however was to no real advantage because Zurui countered with another wave of energy that seriously compromised the structural integrity of the hallway as well as knock Oliver back a little. So seeing that Both David and Oliver were in the hallway and it was nearing collapse, Zurui sliced at a few supporting beams and ran down a different corridor.
